Beacon Hill Friends House With Nils Klinkenberg, Executive Director (2 PM)
Monday, July 1, 2019, 2:00 PM
Beacon Hill Friends House
8 Chestnut St
#6 and #8 Chestnut Street were built in 1804 as two single-family homes—attributed to Charles Bulfinch, the architect of the State House—and were joined together in the 1920s. In 1957, the combined house was donated to the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) to become the Beacon Hill Friends House, a residential community and nonprofit Quaker center. For 62 years now, people of all ages, backgrounds, and faiths (and non-faiths) have lived at the Friends House sharing meals, household responsibilities, and decision-making while living in "intentional community" grounded in Quaker values. On our private tour, Nils Klinkenberg will tell us more about the Religious Society of Friends, Quaker traditions, the history of the Friends House, and his work there as Executive Director. Meet at BHFH, 8 Chestnut St. BHV members and guests. Free.
