USS Constitution & Museum (1 PM)
Monday, June 3, 2019, 1:00 PM
Travel by ferry ride to the Charlestown Navy Yard, home to what Oliver Wendell
Holmes called “the eagle of the sea,” the USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship afloat and America’s designated Ship of State. First, we will go aboard “Old Ironsides” for a private tour with an active duty U.S. Navy Sailor. Option(s) to stay on dock, access top deck only, or lower decks via a ladder-like stairs. Back on dry land, our next stop will be the USS Constitution Museum for a private tour with a museum educator. Before we set sail back to Boston, explore the exhibits on your own – learn about the ship’s battle history, life at sea, or the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. If you’re lucky, you might meet a member of the Model Shipwright Guild at work on their craft. Photo ID req’d to embark federal vessel. Meet at Long Wharf (South) at 1:00 p.m. for our 1:30 p.m. ferry (the nearest T station is Aquarium on the Blue Line). Return ferry 4:45 p.m. (with subsequent ferries every 15 minutes). BHV members and guests: $20. Price includes ferry transport and all-day access to museum, tours of museum and ship.
