Political Donations Beyond Candidates: Some 2020 Choices and Rationales (9:30)
Tuesday, August 18, 2020, 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM
This event will be held via Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants prior to the event.
It's election time again in the US. All the candidates are after your financial support. But what other choices might you make as a contributor? Come hear about the many organizations other than candidates' campaigns which could put your donations to good use. Some of these organizations help register new voters and make sure all registered voters can cast their ballots. Some are explaining the confusing new world of mail-in voting: each citizen can understand that it has already worked well in several American states and can choose the voting option that works best for him or her. Some will protect the voting process, including the counting which follows. Our speaker, Susan Shaer, intimately knows the infrastructure of campaigning, fundraising and elections. She has a decades-long career as a political and policy advocate, a campaigner and a fundraiser. You will be impressed, and perhaps even reassured, by how much activity is already underway to make the 2020 elections--whoever wins--open, fair, and understood by voters. And Susan can help you make an effective donation to help support that activity.
Registration required. BHV members and their guests welcome. Registrants will receive a Zoom link prior to the event date.
